LA Galaxy’s striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic might make a shocking return to Manchester United, only nine months after swapping the English Premier League for MLS. Ibrahimovic, who joined Galaxy from Man Utd in March, is reportedly one of the primary targets for Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho in January transfer window.

According to ESPN FC Mark Ogden, Mourinho would want to bring Ibrahimovic on a short-term loan deal during the MLS offseason to boost his attack. The 55-year-old coach would also like to use the striker’s influence in the problematic Man Utd’s locker room.

While it’s a fact that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is 37 years old and well past his prime, his showings in MLS hint that he could still be a valuable role player even in one of the world’s strongest leagues. Since arriving in Los Angeles, Ibrahimovic managed to score a stunning figure of 21 goals in just 25 matches while also providing four assists. Considering the fact that Man Utd’s strikers are struggling to find the net in the recent weeks, his could be an essential piece in the club’s quest to clinch the Champions League spot.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic played really well during his first stint with Manchester United, joining the club in 2016 and scoring 28 goals in his first 46 matches. Severe knee injury, however, caused him to be sidelined for more than seven months. After making only seven appearances and scoring one goal during the first half of 2017–18 season, Ibrahimovic agreed to a mutual contract termination with Man Utd and decided to join LA Galaxy.
