The first big surprise of this year’s edition of the UEFA Champions League came on its opening night after Manchester United traveled to the Parc des Princes and came away with a 1-2 victory against last year’s finalists.

PSG, which is considered to be one of the favorites to win the competition yet again this season, went up against a Manchester United side that had won 11 consecutive away matches, but was a heavy underdog on Tuesday night.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s team, however, went into the matchup against the star-studded Parisians and claimed a first half 0-1 lead after Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty which was whistled after Bruno Diallo brought down Anthony Martial in the box.

PSG evened up the match in the second half, taking advantage of an Anthony Martial mistake which saw him head Neymar Jr’s corner into his own team’s net.

Despite the adversity, however, Man U was able to re-take the lead for good after a brilliant Marcus Rashford strike from the edge of the box which Keylor Navas could do nothing to stop.

Manchester United is now considered the favorite of Group H after their surprising victory, and will have a chance to go 3 points clear at the top after they host RB Leipzig next week. Paris Saint-Germain will lick their wounds and travel to Turkey to face Istanbul Basaksehir as they look to climb back into the swing of things.
