Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic decided to pass on the opportunity to join Ligue 1 champions  Paris Saint-Germain and will remain with Juventus for the time being.

According to Goal, PSG initiated transfer talks with Juve regarding Mandzukic after injuries of Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe left their attack short on options. And while Seria A giants were prepared to listen to offers for the 33-year-old, the player himself decided to turn down the transfer.

Mandzukic is currently out of manager Maurizio Sarri’s plans, who favors Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala, and hasn’t been included in Juventus’ Champions League squad. Despite this, however, the Croatian is determined to wait out till January before deciding on his future.

During the summer Mario Mandzukic was linked with several other teams including Manchester United, Bayern Munchen, and Roma but the transfer talks with these clubs never gained any traction. This might change in the future since Man Utd reportedly remain interested in his services.

Mandzukic enjoyed a solid season in 2018/19, playing 33 matches in all competitions and providing 10 goals and six assists. Since arriving at Juventus in 2015, he played a total of 162 games and scored 44 goals while helping the team to win four straight Seria A titles.
