The Houston Dynamo confirmed on Tuesday that they have transferred the franchise’s second all-time leading scorer Mauro Manotas to Liga MX side Club Tijuana.

The team didn’t disclose the transfer fee included in the deal, but they will reportedly have a percentage of any move that Manotas makes in the future.

This is the second high-profile attacking departure from Houston in 2020, as forward Alberth Elis left the MLS side in September to join Portugal’s Boavista.

Mauro Manotas started his career in native Colombia, where he played with Uniautonoma FC for three seasons. He joined Houston Dynamo as a designated player in 2015 and quickly became the club’s No.1 option up front.

In the past five seasons in MLS, Manotas scored 51 goals in 149 games while also dishing 17 assists. This puts him only behind Brian Ching’s 56 goals on the franchise’s all-time scoring list, and at No.10 in all-time appearances.

Manotas helped the Dynamo win the U.S. Open Cup in 2018 when he was also named the competition’s best player.

If the above tweet is any indication, it seems as though Manotas and Houston separated on good terms, with both parties maintaining a positive attitude for the future.
