Mavericks’ Guard Courtney Lee Sidelined with Calf Injury

Veteran guard Courtney Lee won’t be able to join the Dallas Mavericks as the team looks to resume its organized workouts on July 1st. According to the team’s official statement, Lee injured his calf during the “NBA hiatus” and won’t be at the team’s disposal for the continuation of the 2019/20 season.

Mavs didn’t reveal any further details about Lee’s injury, saying that there is “no timetable for his return” at the moment.

Reportedly, Dallas are not hopeful that Lee might play anymore this season and are already looking to sign a replacement.

Although he hasn’t seen much action early in 2019/20, Courtney Lee started getting more minutes just before the league suspended its activities due to coronavirus. He broke into the rotation after backup guard Jalen Brunson suffered an injury in mid-February and proved to be a surprisingly reliable solution for Dallas at the position. Lee, who scores 4.5 points on average this season, even got to start five out of Mavs’ last six games.

Before joining Mavs, Lee spent time with seven different NBA organizations, including Orlando Magic, Memphis Grizzlies, and New York Knicks. His career averages include 9.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
