Kristaps Porzingis has only been playing for the Dallas Mavericks for a nearly two years, and he’s already been involved in trade talks. Or at least, according to SNY’s Ian Begley, he is. Apparently the Mavericks have engaged a handful of teams in trade talks for the tall sharpshooter, including the Golden State Warriors.

However, it’s possible that there is some misinformation being spread, according to Dallas front-office officials. According to longtime Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle: “There’s no trade for Porzingis. There’s nothing that’s been explored. I know Mark’s denied it. I’m denying it. He’s a Maverick. We expect him to be here.”

Even with Carlisle and Cuban denying it, there seems to be a lot of smoke surrounding the possibility of a trade. If they really are looking to trade Porzingis, they may be able to get something great for him in return.

Porzingis is an incredible talent, standing tall at like-seven feet and possessing the ability to knock down three-pointers with ease. Any team would love to have him on their squad, so it would be interesting to see who Dallas would be able to get in return.

However, that still begs the question: if he’s so good, why would Dallas be thinking of trading him? It’s possible that their slow start to this season has something to do with it. Porzingis isn’t the greatest defender, and it’s possible that the front office may be looking to shake things up.
