Sources revealed to ESPN that Manchester United is not willing to go over £60 million ($79 million) in order to close a deal for priority transfer target Rasmus Hojlund this summer.

The Red Devils’ previous bid for the Atalanta striker was rejected, with the team on different pages when it comes to the transfer fees they have in mind for the player. While United manager Erik ten Hag is prioritizing his search for a striker to add firepower to his squad up front, he is also looking at other options in an effort to avoid overpaying.

Although Atalanta is looking for a hefty fee for the 20-year-old player because he remains under contract until 2027, Man United feels that a valuation of over £85 million for the player is unjustified, specifically since he lacks experience and only scored nine goals in the Serie A last season.

In San Diego on United’s preseason tour of the United States, Ten Hag confirmed his determination to sign a striker this preseason. “We make progress, yes, but we know how it works and when we have him, we will tell you directly,” he explained during a press conference ahead of the Red Devils’ game against Wrexham.
