Barcelona’s way to the Champions League finals was traced with the victory against Liverpool. The Catalonians maximized their chances, and Liverpool did not which lead to the great advantage for them before the rematch. Even though Liverpool dictated the rhythm of the match and created chances, they did not utilize them and the Catalonians punished them for all their misses.

During the second half, Liverpool attempted an offensive but the Spaniards managed to defend against the attack of Milner, Salah and then Milner again. The end result was 3 – 0 for Barcelona, Luis Suarez scored the first goal in the first half with Lionel Messi scoring two more goals in the second half.

Also, Lionel Messi scored his 600th goal for the team when he hit the net against Liverpool. He scored it with an incredible free-kick from a distance. It took the champion exactly 14 years between the goal today and his first goal for Barcelona in 2005 when Ronaldinho assisted him against Albacete. Of his 600 goals, he scored 417 in La Liga, 112 in the Champions League and 50 in Copa Del Rey.

The rematch will be played on Tuesday.
