It appears that Mexico international striker Raul Jimenez won’t be suiting up for another club despite the transfer rumors surrounding him in recent months. Wolverhampton Wanderers announced over the weekend that they have signed Jimenez to a new four-year deal, keeping the 29-year-old striker with the club until the summer of 2024.

Jimenez was one of the Wolves’ best players in recent years, leading the team in scoring over the past two seasons. This made him a subject of interest for several high-profile clubs, most notably Seria A champions Juventus, but no transfer came to fruition this summer.

The two sides ended up deciding to put the end on all speculations, and will now have the opportunity to bring the club to new heights together.

“I am delighted to be here and to be at this great club. Since I was a little boy, I just wanted to play, I wanted to enjoy it, live it, and that’s why I am here for,” said Jimenez after inking the deal. “They give me all the confidence and the opportunity to be an important guy at the front, and that’s what I was looking for when I arrived into Europe, and I’m very happy to continue at this club.”

Raul Jimenez arrived in Wolverhampton in 2018, initially joining on loan from Benfica. Since then, he scored 46 goals, alongside 18 assists, in 104 matches in all competitions. Jimenez opened the new season on a high note as well and scored twice in the first four matches.

On the international level, Jimenez has 23 goals in 82 senior-team appearances with Mexico. He made his debut with the national side in 2013.
