Miami Dolphins’ emerging defense suffered a tough blow on Monday. According to multiple reports, Dolphins’ starting nose tackle Davon Godchaux suffered a biceps tear and is facing a lengthy break.

Mike Garofolo of the NFL Network reported that Godchaux is currently asking for a second opinion on the injury, hoping to get more positive news. If not, the former fifth-round pick will be out for around three months, which would effectively end his 2020 NFL season.

The 25-year-old player totaled 16 tackles and two QB hits in the past five weeks.

Miami reportedly remains optimistic that they could have Davon Godchaux back for the back end of the regular season, and a playoff run if they make the postseason.

Since getting drafted in 2017, Godchaux emerged as a solid option for the Dolphins on NT, having started all 16 games in both his second and third year in the league. He has 179 career tackles to go with 3.0 sacks and 16 QB hits.

Godchaux is currently in the final year of his rookie deal and will be a free agent next year.
