In one of the most improbable playoff runs in recent NBA history, the Miami Heat have defeated the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals and are heading to the Finals, where they will face the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Heat came into the playoffs as the fifth seed in the East. The only team who has ever won an NBA championship after entering the playoffs seeded lower than fourth was the 1995 Houston Rockets.

The Heat started their playoff run by sweeping the Indiana Pacers in the first round and then handled the Milwaukee Bucks, who had the best record in the league during the regular season, in just five games in the second round.

It took just six games for the Heat to eliminate the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Finals. They will now try to put together another unprecedented upset in the NBA finals, against LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Lakers, who are clear Final favorites.

Despite adding five-time All-Star Jimmy Butler in the offseason, not many believed that the Heat had the pieces necessary to make a serious title run.

But Butler got unexpected help from a group of young players that have been playing lights out, including third-year power forward Bam Adebayo and sensational rookie Tyler Herro.

They are schedule to face off against the Lakers in Game 1 on the NBA Finals on Saturday.
