The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in the first game of the NBA Finals by a score of 116-98.

The Heat, who have been resilient and have been able to stay healthy for the majority of the season and playoffs, had a few players go down in the game. Three Heat starters suffered injuries in Game 1, Goran Dragic, Bam Adebayo, and Jimmy Butler.

Dragic suffered the most serious injury. Sources believe that Dragic has a plantar tear in his left foot and no one is quite sure whether he will be back or not. The Heat have yet to give an update on his injury.

Adebayo was dealing with a strained shoulder, which kept him out of the last 18 minutes of the game. However, all x-rays performed on the power forward’s shoulder came back negative and he is expected to play in Game 2.

Butler twisted his ankle on two separate plays and said after the game that it was feeling a bit sore, so Miami’s best player will definitely be starting Game 2.

As for Dragic, he told the press that he is able to put pressure on his injured left foot and that he wants to wait and receive treatment to see if he will be able to play in Game 2 as well.

Game 2 will be played on Saturday, October 3.
