NBA legend Michael Jordan and golf champion Tiger Woods came in fourth and ninth in this year’s Forbes’ top 10 richest celebrities.

Jordan’s wealth rose to $1.7 billion from last year’s $1.4 billion thanks to the growing value of his NBA franchise the Charlotte Hornets. Woods was tied at the ninth position with writer James Patterson for a networth of $800 million.

In addition to his 90% stake in the Hornets that contributed $800 million to his net worth, Jordan’s other source of income is his Nike deals for Air Jordans. The golfer, on the other hand, is poised to become a billionaire in 2019 should he continue with his comeback in golf.

After a series of injuries, Woods came back to golf in late 2017 and ended up being sixth at the 2018 PGA Open Championship. He won the Tour Championship and emerged as the runner-up of the Brooks Koepka.

Despite the comeback so far, Woods net worth hasn’t increased by much this year. He was valued at $750 million in 2017. He only made $5.48 million in Tour earnings this year, meaning his main source of income are sponsorships and course design fees.

George Lucas of the Star Wars Franchise was the richest celebrity, followed by Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey.
