Minnesota Vikings seem to be happy with the work that head coach Mike Zimmer has done in the past six years. According to NFL Network, Vikings have offered a multi-year extension to Zimmer, and the two sides are close to making the deal official.

Zimmer, who led the Vikings to 10-6 regular-season record in 2019, had one year left on his previous deal. The 64-year-old head coach signed his most recent extension with the organization in 2016.

Mike Zimmer joined Minnesota Vikings in 2014 after previously serving as defensive coordinator with Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, and Cincinnati Bengals. Since then, Zimmer led the organization to two NFC North Division titles and three playoff trips.

Minnesota’s best season under Zimmer came in 2017 when the team finished the regular season with 13-3 record. This was the franchise’s second-best record since the NFL switched to the 16-game season. Vikings made it to the NFC Championship game that year, losing to future Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles.

Zimmer has a 57-38-1 regular-season record with Vikings while going 2-3 in the postseason. He is currently on the third spot on franchise’s all-time wins list behind Dennis Green with 97 and NFL Championship-winning coach Bud Grant, who has 158 wins.
