The MLS announced on Tuesday that the Minnesota United’s Allianz Field will host the 2022 MLS All-Star Game. The league also confirmed that the game is scheduled to take place on August 10th.

The opponent for the MLS All-Star team is expected to be revealed at a later date.

Allianz Field was officially opened in 2019 and has a capacity of 19,400. Besides being the home of the United, the venue also hosted USMNT and USWNT on multiple occasions for their international matches.

“Since the club began play in the league in 2017, Minnesota United and their incredible fan base have played a key role in the continued rise of MLS and growth of our sport throughout the U.S.,” said MLS Commissioner Don Garber in a statement. “As the eyes of the soccer world turn to Allianz Field next August 10, the people of Minnesota will be fantastic hosts, and the supporters and ‘Wonderwall’ will create a memorable atmosphere for our marquee summer event.”

The 2021 edition of the 2022 MLS All-Star game saw the MLS All-Stars taking on the Liga MX All-Stars. The regular period of the game ended with a 1-1 tie, and the MLS All-Stars ended up taking the win via penalties (3-2). The New England Revolution goalie Matt Turner was named the All-Star MVP.
