Liverpool and the soccer world held its breath on Saturday evening after Mo Salah was carried off of the field at St. James Park with a head injury.

Salah suffered a head injury after a scary aerial collision in the 69th minute with Newcastle United keeper Martin Dubravka in the Reds’ 2-3 win. Medical services attended to him immediately and took him off of the field on a stretcher after it was determined that he couldn’t continue.

Liverpool, which was tied 2-2 with Newcastle at the time of Salah’s injury, eventually went on to win the game 2-3 after Salah’s substitute Divock Origi scored the winner.

The club has yet to release an update about the severity of the injury and the amount of time he will miss. Manager Jurgen Klopp did mention in his post-game press conference that Salah was conscious and able to watch the final minutes of the game in the dressing room.

Liverpool will wait with bated breath to see if their star forward will be healthy enough to play in their massive game against FC Barcelona on Tuesday night. The Reds host the Spanish champions at Anfield, looking to overcome a 3-0 deficit in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals.
