Mookie Betts Signs Mega 12 Year Deal With Dodgers

Mookie Betts, the focus point of the blockbuster trade this offseason between the Red Sox and Dodgers has reportedly signed a 12 year, $365 million contract with the Los Anngeles Dodgers. The deal comes before he every played one game in a Dodger uniform.

The 2018 AL MVP is a four-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger, and Gold Glove winner. Betts was a big reason the Red Sox won their 4th World Series of the 21st century and how they dominated baseball in 2018 with their dynamic lineup.

Betts, 27, is expected to add a veteran presence in the leadoff spot to bat in front of reigning 2019 MVP Cody Bellinger and veteran Justin Turner. The Dodgers’ organization is hoping that Mookie can be the difference maker to get them over the hump and win a championship, something that has alluded the Dodgers, despite winning 7 consecutive division titles and 2 World Series appearances in 2017-18.

Both Los Angeles and Betts resumed contract talks last week in the hopes that they could come to a conclusion before the season opener on July 23 against the Giants. The Dodgers and Yankees are World Series favorites this year, with many predicting the two teams to face off against each other in October.
