Mexican international Hirving Lozano is close to leaving the Dutch team PSV Eindhoven for Napoli this week after both teams have agreed on a $42 million deal for the next 4 years. Lozano is about to become Napoli’s most expensive signing ever after Gonzalo Higuain, who arrived from Real Madrid for a fee of $39 million.

Lozano has been playing in the Dutch Eredivisie since 2017. In this league, he has made 140 caps for PSV, scoring a total of 40 goals and providing 23 assists which is a very impressive record for a time period shorter than two years. He was also wanted by Barcelona, but their offer was refused by Hirving due to his wish to play in the starting line-up, which is possible in Napoli. This is because the line up is vastly different and Lozano’s skills would certainly be required in a smaller team such as Napoli.

The 24-year-old Mexican representative started his career in the Mexican team Pachuca, where he managed to win the 2016 Mexican Clausura and the 2016-2017 CONCACAF Champions League, playing a total of 149 games and scoring 43 goals throughout his career there. He was sold to PSV Eindhoven in June 2017, winning the league in the first season while also being the team’s top goal scorer.
