Despite making a good impression in their inaugural MLS season so far, Nashville SC are still making moves to improve their roster. One of those moves came on Thursday when the team announced that they have acquired midfielder Alex Muyl from New York Red Bulls.

According to the team, Red Bulls will receive Nashville’s 2020 and 2021 international picks in exchange. They will also be entitled to $50,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) in 2021 if Muyl meets certain performance-based marks.

Muyl made two appearances for NYRB in 2020, coming off the bench in both of them.

“Alex displays all the qualities we look for in a player as we continue to build the foundation of our club” said the team’s general manager Mike Jacobs. “He is a proven winner, industrious, and is an absolute nightmare to play against. His ability to create and finish scoring chances makes him a constant threat.”

Alex Muyl spent his entire career with New York Red Bulls, joining the team’s academy in 2011 as a 16-year-old. After playing on college and USL Championship, Muyl signed a Homegrown Contract with the organization ahead of the 2016 season.

Since then, Muyl played a total of 113 MLS games with Red Bulls, contributing with 11 goals and 18 assists. He also helped the team win MLS Supporters’ Shield in 2018.
