Just a few days after the NBA announced that they’ll resume the 2019/2020 season, its minor league organization, NBA G League, decided to cancel its season.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim, president of the NBA G League made the announcement on Thursday and decided that the league won’t be crowning a champion. “While canceling the remainder of our season weighs heavily on us, we recognize that it is the most appropriate action to take for our league,” said Abdur-Rahim in a statement.

The league will still have Most Valuable Player, Coach of the Year, and Rookie of the Year Awards.

On March 12, League G followed the NBA, suspending its season, but they don’t have the same financial incentive to finish the 2019/2020 season that the NBA does.

Although they canceled the season, all players were paid full salaries and health benefits by the League.

It’s still unclear if G League players who are under two-way contracts with NBA teams will join the teams when they resume their scheduled season in July.
