Tony Parker, the ex-San Antonio Spurs star player and winner of the Finals MVP, recently announced in an interview that he will be retiring from basketball.

During the interview with Marc J. Spears from The Undefeated, the four-time NBA champion announced his plans, saying that he is ready to retire and adding that if he can’t be “a Tony Parker anymore” and can’t play for a championship, he wouldn’t want to play basketball anymore.

Parker was drafted 28th by the San Antonio Spurs in 2001 and won the title with them in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014, before joining the Charlotte Hornets for one season.

From 2015, he held a two-year record as the all-time leading scorer in the EuroBasket. The Undefeated also reported that Parker plans to live in San Antonio but he will regularly travel to France since he is the owner and president of ASVEL, the most successful club in French basketball history.

The 37-year-old player, who has been the team’s vice-president has been stocking ASVEL with some of the most promising young talents from both sexes in France for years now, and he’s really proud of this project.
