The Brooklyn Nets’ guard Ben Simmons is facing another spell on the sidelines. After missing time with various injuries on multiple occasions earlier this season, Simmons is now expected to miss more time dealing with knee soreness.

Simmons had his knee flare up during practice recently, forcing him to miss the Nets’ first two games after the All-Star break. While Brooklyn didn’t provide more details about Simmons’ condition, the player himself hinted that he could be out for an extended time.

“We’re going to reevaluate it in about a week and see where I’m at,” Simmons said via the New York Post. “There’s some targets I need to hit and get to.”

Simmons also opened up about his frustrations with the injuries that limited him to just 42 games and 26.3 minutes per game in 2022-23.

“I’ve been battling it all year. I haven’t been 100 percent all year,” he added. “I just want to be on the court, regardless of what it is and whatever position I have. I’m just trying to give the team what I can.”

When he was able to play, Simmons struggled to make the significant impact that the Nets envisioned when they acquired him as part of James Harden trade with the Philadelphia 76ers. The three-time All-Star showed that he is still a valuable defensive presence but has struggled on the offensive side of the ball, averaging only 6.9 points throughout the campaign.
