After a dominant 2018 regular season, the New Orleans Saints clinched the NFC’s best record and #1 seed with a 31-28 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon.

The Saints didn’t have it easy on Sunday, as they hosted the Steelers, who are fighting for their playoff lives.

After a Ben Roethlisberger touchdown pass to Antonio Brown at the end of the 3rd quarter, New Orleans trailed 28-24.

As he has time and time again this season, however, quarterback Drew Brees led the Saints to a game-winning drive capped with a 2-yard touchdown pass to Michael Thomas with 1:04 left in the fourth quarter.

The Saints held on to win after taking the lead with a minute to go, clinching the conference’s top seed in the playoffs.

The Mercedes-Benz Superdome is one of the league’s most daunting stadiums, and the Saints will certainly benefit from their home-field advantage throughout their run in the playoffs.

The Saints will host the 6-9 Carolina Panthers in a meaningless season finale next weekend.

Their playoff schedule will start with a bye, and then they’ll await to host either the 3rd or the 6th seed in the NFC playoffs, depending on the winner of the Wildcard Round game.

Brees and the Saints will hope that their top seed will help propel them to their second Super Bowl in franchise history, after winning their inaugural trip to football’s biggest game back in 2010.
