Brazilian superstar forward Neymar will remain with Paris Saint-Germain for the foreseeable future. According to reports from France, the two sides agreed to a four-year contract extension that will see the 28-year-old star remain with the club until the summer of 2026.

Neymar and PSG have been in negotiations for several weeks now and they quickly came to the overall terms of the deal. They are currently working on the finer details and the official confirmation is expected in coming days.

Neymar recently hinted at this development during his appearance on French network TF1 over the weekend.

“I am happy today. I am truly happy,” said Neymar. “Things have changed a lot. I can’t exactly explain why. But today, I am feeling good. I have adapted. I am calmer and I am happier. I want to stay at PSG.”

Neymar has been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain for the better part of the past two years. It seemed that the player was unhappy in France, and a return to Barcelona was looking like a done deal at one point. Media also reported about his clash with the club’s brass, most notably sporting director Leonardo.

However, things changed in recent months, as Neymar and Leonardo improved their relationship. Also, Barca has had financial difficulties due to coronavirus, which made it difficult for them to pull off a deal.

Neymar has played 16 games in all competitions with PSG, scoring 13 goals and adding five assists.
