After Paris Saint Germain’s 3-1 win over Manchester United during the Champions League group stage round, Brazilian star Neymar Jr. stepped up to the microphone and made a statement that will be sure to pique ears around the soccer world.

Journalists asked Neymar about the possibility of reuniting with his former Barcelona teammate at PSG after Messi’s current contract expires next summer.

The Brazilian star said, “What I want most of all is to play with Messi again, to be able to enjoy him once again on the pitch. He can play in my place, I have no problem with that! But I want to play with him next year, for sure. We have to do it next season.”

The two global superstars played together in Barcelona from 2013 to 2017, combining to win one Champions League, three Copas del Rey, and two La Liga titles.

Neymar left FC Barcelona for PSG in the summer of 2017, and has yet to win a Champions League trophy despite personal success and huge goal-scoring numbers.

Depending on how Messi feels about staying at Barcelona after a turmoil-filled year, it appears that he could at least be tempted to join his former teammate in the French capital.
