Neymar Jr was stretchered off after being injured during Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 clash with Lille at the Parc de Princes on Sunday. The Brazilian winger landed awkwardly on his ankle after colliding into Lille’s Benjamin Andre 51 minutes into the game.

Prior to the clash, Neymar scored PSG’s second goal in what ended up being a dramatic 4-3 win, with PSG coming from behind to win the game at the death. Kylian Mbappe drew PSG level in the 87th minute while Lionel Messi won the game for Ligue 1 leaders five minutes into stoppage time.

The same ankle that Neymar damaged during the 2022 World Cup, this is the latest in a string of injury setbacks faced by PSG. Star striker Mbappe returned to the team during the midweek 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League after being injured on February 1. Now, the team faces the prospect of playing the second leg of their Champions League clash against Bayern without another star player.

Following the deterioration of relations between Neymar and PSG, the club’s president Nasser al Khelaifi reportedly met with Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly in Paris earlier in the week to discuss the potential transfer of Neymar to the Premier League club.
