Monday Night Football won’t be just a regular-season attraction in the NFL anymore. The league shared an update about the playoff format for the upcoming 2021 postseason, announcing that one of the wild-card playoff games will be played on Monday.

The 2020 NFL season saw the league implementing a 14-team playoffs for the first time. The format featured three wild card games for each conference, with only No. 1 seeded teams in AFC and NFC receiving a bye. The remaining division champions served as the hosts in the wild-card.

The same format will roll over to the 2021 postseason but will feature a scheduling change that affects Super Wild Card Weekend. Instead of having three games on Saturday and three games on Sunday, the NFL opted to have five games spread between Saturday and Sunday. The remaining game will be held in the Monday Night Football slot.

The league also released a schedule for the Super Wild Card Weekend (via ESPN), although it is yet to determine which network will take over the broadcast.
