NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will remain in his position for the foreseeable future. According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Goodell, and the NFL owners are in the process of finalizing a multi-year extension for the 64-year-old.

Goodell, who has been the NFL Commissioner since 2006, signed his last contract extension in 2017. The terms of the new deal haven’t been revealed yet, although the discussions involved a three-year agreement. Reportedly, the extension will be heavy on incentives and will result in keeping him the highest-paid Commissioner in the sports world.

After Goodell signed his most recent extension, many believed his time as NFL Commissioner was coming to an end. However, Goodell is still not ready to hand the reigns over to someone else, and the league is reportedly happy with the job he has done in recent years.

Under Goodell’s watch, the NFL has managed to get the players to okay a new collective bargaining agreement while also completing a number of lucrative media rights deals. This included an agreement with CBS, NBC, Fox, ESPN, and Amazon that is reportedly worth north of $100 billion as well as an “NFL Sunday Ticket” deal with YouTube TV that is worth a reported $2 billion on an annual basis.
