It appears that the NFL isn’t going to be lenient about coaches not wearing their masks on the sidelines during games, having fined several big names already.

The NFL is following the protocol recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention related to face coverings that can help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. And while all of the team members, coaching staff included, get tested for the coronavirus every day, the league still wants masks to be worn wherever possible.

So far, three coaches have received hefty fines for failing to do so. Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, and Denver Broncos coach Vic Fangio have all been hit with $100,000 fines for not wearing their masks on the sidelines during their games. On top of that, the NFL has tacked on an additional fine of $250,000 to each respective team.

Expect more NFL head coaches to be receiving fines in the coming days, including New Orleans coach Sean Payton and Las Vegas Raiders coach Jom Gruden, who were both seen without masks numerous times during their Monday night game.

The NFL has shown that it’s serious about taking every possible precaution to make sure that COVID-19 does not infiltrate any teams in order to keep this season, occurring in the middle of a pandemic, progressing as smoothly as possible.
