French ace N’Golo Kante signed a 5-year extension contract on Friday at Stamford Bridge that will see his salary increase from £150,000 to £290,000 per week and become the highest paid player at the club.

Chelsea was determined to keep the 27-year-old at the bridge after his incredible performance saw them lift the 2016-17 Premier League title under coach Antonio Conte. Kante had also won the league title with Leicester a year before and was instrumental in helping France with the World Cup in Russia this summer.

“N’Golo Kante has today extended his stay at Stamford Bridge by signing a new five-year contract,” a post published on the club’s website read.

N’Golo Kante said he was happy to extend his stay at the club, citing he had improved as a player.

“I’m happy to extend my time with Chelsea. It has been two beautiful years and I wish for more to come,” Kante said. “Since I came, I completely improved as a player, challenged myself and got some awards I never thought about. I like the city, I like the club and I am happy to be here for more time.”

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Liverpool forward Sadio Mane signed a five-year contract that will see him equal Roberto Firmino’s and Mohammed Salah’s deal.
