Chelsea manager Graham Potter has confirmed that his team has no intention of letting United States midfielder Christian Pulisic leave the club during the January transfer window. This comes after reports suggesting that Manchester United and Newcastle expressed interest in the player.

“No chance [of Pulisic leaving], no,” Potter told reporters. “There was never any consideration of anything about that anyway but he’s a couple of months [out]. He’s disappointed [to be injured] but he’s optimistic that he can come back quicker than the two months so he’s in that phase where he’s just trying to keep his fingers crossed and hopefully his rehab goes well.”

Having started just six Premier league matches this season, Pulisic was believed to have been considering a move away from Stamford Bridge in an effort to revive his career.

Sitting in 10th position on the league table, Chelsea finds themselves in a precarious position, with Pulisic among the numerous players who are unavailable through injury. While Joao Felix started his first game in a Chelsea shirt against Fulham since arriving on loan from Atletico Madrid, he received a red card, resulting in a three-game ban.
