Novak Djokovic won a record fourth Shanghai Masters title Sunday morning, beating Croatia’s Borna Coric 6-3, 6-4.

The World’s No.2 dominated his opponent with powerful serves but conceded a point break in the sixth set of the second set. Djokovic’s win over Coric made it four wins in Shanghai Masters and his eleventh appearance in an ATP final held in China. He has also won all the Shanghai Masters he has played in (2012, 2013, 2015 and 2018).

“Maybe I was Chinese in the past life,” Djokovic said as he smiled. “I wouldn’t be surprised, to be honest, with the way I feel here and the way I communicate and have a relationship with the people. It is all very, very positive, for more than 10 years that I have been coming to China. There is something special about this place that makes me feel like at home.”

The Serb has now won 18 matches in a row and four titles this year.  Coric gave Djokovic a hard time on Sunday morning but couldn’t prevent him from winning the game. Following the Shanghai Masters, the Serb pushed Roger Federer third to snatch the World No.2 title.
