The Carolina Panthers’ best player, running back Christian McCaffery, is listed as “week to week” once again after suffering a right shoulder injury in his return last week.

McCaffrey, who is the NFL’s highest-paid running back and one of the best offensive weapons in the league, suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 2 of the season and missed six weeks of action. He came back last week in a tough 33-31 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs and played brilliantly.

He had one rushing touchdown and one passing touchdown, tallying 151 total yards from scrimmage.

However, McCaffrey suffered a right shoulder injury in the game and is not expected to play this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Panthers are at the bottom of their division with a 3-6 record, have lost four straight, and could really use McCaffery’s services against their divisional rival.

Instead, the team will have to rely once again on running back Mike Davis, who has performed admirably in McCaffrey’s absence.

McCaffrey, who is a dual-threat that and just as dangerous on the ground and he is catching passes, signed a record-setting extension with the Panthers in the offseason netting him $64 million over four years.
