Despite the coaching change, the Carolina Panthers continue to have major issues inside their own organization. This was on full display during the 24-10 loss to Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, when interim head coach Steve Wilks had to send the team’s best wideout Robbie Anderson in the locker room before the end of the game.

Anderson was thrown out after having a pair of heated arguments with his position coach Joe Dailey. The two clashed in the first half and then in the third quarter again, after which Wilks had enough and decided that the wideout was done for the game.

“No one is bigger than the team,” Wilks said about the incident. “I’m not going to focus and put a lot of attention on one individual.”

Speaking with reporters after the game, Anderson, who didn’t have a single catch against the Rams, said he was “confused” with his coach’s decision.

“I wanted to be in the game,” said Anderson. “I’ve never had somebody yell to get out of the game. So I was honestly confused and upset by that.”

Robbie Anderson joined the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and had a strong campaign that saw him make 95 receptions for 1,096 yards, both of which were career highs. However, Anderson failed to replicate this production later on and has particularly struggled this season. He has 13 catches for 206 yards and a touchdown in the first six weeks.

Many predict that Anderson’s latest antics and the Panthers’ looming rebuild mean that the 29-year-old wideout will be playing somewhere else before the 2022 season wraps up. Both sides would likely prefer to part ways at this point, and there should be plenty of teams interested in boosting their WR corps with a veteran.
