RB Leipzig was one of the most pleasant surprises in this year’s UEFA Champions League, but even they couldn’t cope with star-studded Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals match on Tuesday night. Led by Angel Di Maria, who scored once and had two assists, PSG grabbed a 3-0 win and clinched their first-ever UCL finals.

While PSG struggled against Atlanta in the quarter-finals and needed a late comeback to avoid elimination, the Ligue 1 champions took a different approach this time around. They were aggressive and attacking minded, which paid off in the 13th minute when Brazilian defender Marquinhos scored a header after Di Maria’s cross.

Di Maria then got on the scoresheet himself shortly before the end of the first half, using a perfect heel pass by Neymar to get the ball in the net.

In the second period, PSG continued their dominance and got out of reach with the help of Juan Berna, who scored for 3-0 in 56th minute. Leipzig tried to make something happen, but they already lost motivation up to this point and just couldn’t get the ball past Paris’ goalie Sergio Rico.

Paris Saint-Germain is now awaiting for the better from the second semi-finals matchup Bayern Munich vs. Lyon. The UEFA Champions League Finals is scheduled for Sunday night (23rd August).
