Just several months after joining Roc Nation, New Orleans Pelicans guard Lonzo Ball is switching agents once again, signing this time with Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.

The decision points to Ball wanting to take control of his career after having his father make many of his decisions when he was younger. His father LaVar Ball had a lot of influence over Lonzo’s business decisions while he was playing at UCLA and later with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Lonzo signed with Roc Nation in April, which was seen as a family decision since both his brothers LaMelo and LiAngelo also signed to that organization. LiAngelo is currently playing for the Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA G League while LaMelo is expected to be one of the top picks in this year’s NBA draft.

Lonzo’s current agent at Klutch Sports is Rich Paul, who represents many big-name players. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both his clients and Paul was very instrumental in getting the two stars to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Ball played with James in Los Angeles, but was part of the trade deal that brought Davis to Los Angeles and sent Ball to New Orleans.

Lonzo has one more year under his rookie contract and will be a restricted free agent in 2021 if the does not sign a new deal with the Pelicans.
