The New Orleans Pelicans suffered another major injury blow. Their franchise star, Zion Williamson, is dealing with a left hamstring strain and will be out indefinitely, according to the team.

Williamson likely strained his hamstring in the first half of a 131-122 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. He briefly exited the game at his own request but ended up returning to the floor and went on to finish the game with 29 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

After he missed the game against the Orlando Magic on Friday night, Williamson underwent medical imaging the morning after and was diagnosed with the strain.

While the Pelicans stopped short of saying how much time Williamson will miss, several reports indicate that the former first-overall pick will miss at least several weeks.

Even before Williamson’s injury, the Pelicans had to deal with the absence of several key players. All-Star guard Dejounte Murray had a hand surgery in late October and is expected to miss at least a month. Additionally, veteran CJ McCollum, guard Jordan Hawkins, and forward Herbert Jones will all be out for at least a couple of weeks.

The Pelicans have lost four straight and currently find themselves second-to-last in the Western Conference with a 3-7 record.
