While Tuesday night’s Copa America semifinal matchup between Argentina and Brazil was a matchup of two of the favorites in this year’s CONMEBOL tournament, Wednesday’s Peru-Chile putted two underdogs in a clash with a chance to move on to the final.

While Chile was considered a dark horse candidate to win the tournament after winning the trophy in 2017, Peru was considered the longest of longshots.

With their 3-0 win against Chile, however, they stand only one victory away from claiming their first Copa America crown since 1975.

Peru left no doubt about their contender status after their resounding victory on Wednesday, showing desire and courage in toppling the heavy favorite.

While Los Incas won on the backs of one goal apiece by Edison Flores, Yoshimar Yotun, and José Paolo Guerrero, their hero might have been goalkeeper Pedro Gallese.

The Veracruz goalie saved numerous clear occasions that Chile created, and even stopped a penalty in stoppage time.

Now, the underdogs will have a chance to do the unthinkable in toppling #3 FIFA ranked Brazil on their home soil in the final on Sunday.
