England international midfielder Phil Foden signed a new contract with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City. According to the club, Foden is now set to stay at Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2027.

Foden was on a contract that runs through the 2023-24 season, but the club wanted to award him for a recent stretch of impressive performances. The 22-year-old has seven goals and three assists this season already despite playing only 13 games.

“It’s hard to put into words how happy I am to have signed this contract, it’s a dream come true,” Foden said in a statement. “I have been a City fan all my life. I’ve trained here for so many years, and I’ve even been a ball boy. I love this club so much, so to know I am going to be a part of it until 2027 feels amazing. “

Manchester native and City fan, Foden joined the club’s Academy as an eight-year-old. He advanced through the club ranks before getting his pro debut in 2017–18. Since then, Foden has established himself as one of the club’s most important players and went on to 182 senior appearances in all competitions.

Foden, who has 52 goals and 36 to his name as a City player, won 11 trophies during his time with the club. This includes four Premier League titles and one FA cup trophy.

Aside from his contributions to City, Foden also emerged as an important player for England’s national team. He made 18 appearances for the senior squad and was part of the team that won a silver medal at the 2020 European Championship.
