Phoenix Suns Welcome Their New Coach, Philadelphia 76ers’ Monty Williams

Monty Williams, the Philadelphia 76ers’ assistant was hired by the Phoenix Suns as their new head coach.

In the period from 2010 till 2015 Monty Williams was the head coach for the New Orleans Pelicans and during that time he had a 173-221 record. The Pelicans made it to the playoffs in the first and last seasons. He also was the assistant for the Portland Trail Blazers through five seasons and was an assistant for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the season 2015 – 2016. He was absent from the sports world for a period of time after his wife passed away, before returning to the coach position with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Philadelphia is hosting the Toronto Raptors on Sunday. Monty will be staying with Philadelphia through the playoffs. He has also been negotiating for the coaching position with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Igor Kokoskov was fired from the Suns after only one season. The Suns haven’t been to the playoffs since 2009 – 2010, and they are looking to return.

The next coach Monty Williams will be the 20th in the history of the franchise, marking him down as one of the most significant figures in the sport.
