The Portuguese national soccer team advanced to the Final of the 2019 UEFA Nations League competition with a 3-1 win over Switzerland on Wednesday night.

The man of the hour for Portugal, once again, was Cristiano Ronaldo. The superstar forward scored all 3 of his team’s goals to propel them towards a chance to win the first ever Nations League competition.

The game, which was played at Porto’s Estádio do Dragão in front of a very pro-Portugal crowd, was full of drama and emotion. Portugal took the lead first after scoring a goal in the 25th minute.

Switzerland equalized after Ricardo Rodriguez concerted a penalty in the 57th minute after half-time.

Ronaldo wasn’t done, however, as he scored two more goals to propel Portugal onward. There was no lack of drama when these goals were scored, however.

Ronaldo waited until the 88th minute to score the game-winner, putting Portugal up 2-1. He then scored another goal in extra time to put the icing on the cake.

Now, Portugal will advance to play either the Netherlands or England in the competition’s final.

The last match to crown the winner will be played on Sunday. Portugal will have the opportunity to win the crown on their home turf.
