NFL teams recently learned the price they’ll have to pay in order to sign right guard Larry Warford. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 28-year-old Pro Bowler is asking a contract that would pay him around $7 million in annual salary.

Warford surprisingly hit the free market earlier this month after being released by New Orleans Saints. He was in the final year of his four-year, $34 million deal and was set to make close to $7.5 million.

While Saints didn’t want to be on the hook for that kind of money, Warford reportedly hopes he will get this money somewhere else.

While Larry Warford made Pro Bowl in each of the previous three seasons with New Orleans Saints, the organization reportedly felt that he was becoming inconsistent. Also, the team has several talented guards on the roster that don’t cost much, which made their decision to move on from Warford and his pricey contract easier.

Several NFL teams showed interest in Warford in recent days with Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills emerging as favorites for his signature. Chicago Bears were also interested, but ultimately decided to abandon their pursuit, according to Pro Football Talk.
