Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Tyrell Williams, who had a promising season last year, will not be able to follow up on that promise in 2020.

According to the Raiders, Williams is officially on the injured reserve list after tearing his labrum in his shoulder.

The injury occurred last month, but the team has now decided that it would be best for him to have surgery right away and spend the next six months recovering. Williams’ original plan was to try and play through the injury this season and then have surgery if necessary in the offseason.

The receiver played most of last year with an injury as well. He was dealing with plantar fasciitis for a majority of the season and was still able to record 651 yards and six touchdowns on 42 receptions.

Coming into camp, Williams said that he was in great shape and fully recovered. That is until the shoulder injury occurred.

This will certainly put even more pressure on rookie Henry Ruggs III to perform at a high level. The Raiders selected him in the first round of this year’s NFL draft with the No. 12 overall pick.
