Paris Saint-Germain got plenty done on the last day of the summer transfer window. In addition to bringing in goalkeeper Keylor Navas from Real Madrid, they also struck a loan deal for striker Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan.

The 26-year-old Argentinian goal scorer will join PSG on loan until June 30th of next year. The defending Ligue 1 champions will have an option to make the loan permanent after the year-long loan.

Icardi found himself fall out of favor at Inter after the appointment of the new coach this summer. Despite scoring 111 goals in 188 appearances with the Italian club, Inter signed striker Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United during the summer, making his presence in the team redundant.

Part of the reason that the 26-year-old forward didn’t figure in Conte’s plans was due to a slight dip in production in the 2018-19 season. He scored only 17 goals in 37 appearances, his lowest total since his first year with the team in 2013-14.

Icardi will find a new chance to succeed in Paris with a team that has Champions League title aspirations this season. He’ll look to make his mark at the club and lead PSG to never-before-seen heights with his offensive prowess.
