Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser al-Khelaifi has expressed his team’s interest in signing Marcus Rashford on a free transfer when the Manchester United player’s contract lapses at the end of the season.

Al-Khelaifi referred to Rashford as an “amazing” player while revealing that his club has had a previous interest in the player. “We’re not hiding it, we spoke before and … [there was] interest. But the moment was not a good moment for both sides. Maybe, summer, why not?”

Rashford has proven to be a clinical player for both Manchester United and the England national team. Through his strong performances for the Red Devils this season, Rashford managed to reestablish his place in England’s starting 11, delivering impactful performances as the Three Lions qualified for the World Cup quarterfinals.

In addition to the club’s interest in Rashford, the PSG president also spoke of his team’s interest in keeping Lionel Messi in Paris for another season. With the 35-year-old’s contract set to expire next June, the agreement does include a one-year extension that Messi could choose to activate.

A key player in Argentina’s run to the World Cup quarterfinals, Messi has also attracted the interest of MLS club Inter Miami and former team FC Barcelona, which could have the finances to lure Messi back to Camp Nou next season.
