Los Angeles Angels star slugger Albert Pujols is now officially in second place on the MLB career RBI list. He just passed the legendary Alex Rodriguez with a single in the first inning of Monday’s game against the Houston Astros, which the Angels lost 11-4.

Pujols has a total of 2,087 career RBIs and counting and he’s now only behind Hank Aaron officially, who is the record holder with 2,297 career RBIs. Babe Ruth would be in second place unofficially, with a total of 2,214 career RBIs. However, Ruth is not on the list because RBIs didn’t become an official stat until 1920, and 224 of his RBIs occurred before 1920.

The 40-year-old player said that it was an honor, but expressed that he would much rather win games than chase records. The Angels currently have the worst record in the American League despite Pujols batting a strong .211 with three home runs and 12 RBIs this season.

Pujols, who has been league MVP three times and is a 10-time All-Star, is also one home run away from tying Willie Mays for fifth place on the career home runs list.
