The United States Men’s National Team midfielder Christian Pulisic has assured that he will be fit to face the Netherlands in the Round of 16 of the World Cup on Saturday, December 3.

Pulisic incurred a pelvic injury during the United States’ 1-0 victory over Iran in their final Group B clash when he collided with Iranian goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand after scoring a header shortly before the half-time whistle.

While Pulisic received on-field medical attention from his team’s medical staff following the incident, he was ultimately able to get up and finish off the first half with his team. Brenden Aaronson came on for Pulisic at the start of the second half, with the latter being transported to the hospital for further evaluation. He was later diagnosed with a pelvic contusion.

“We got to speak to him and he’s in good spirits,” coach Gregg Berhalter revealed during a news conference after the game. “That’s what he does, that’s the special quality he has and as soon as a goal is wide he goes in with intensity.”

The win over Iran is the United States’ first World Cup victory since the 2014 tournament, which was also the last time they progressed to the Round of 16.
