Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani is set to submit a third bid to acquire Manchester United before the deadline for the third round of offers at 10 p.m. GMT on Friday. Sources have claimed that the Qatari banker remains confident of completing the purchase despite rumors that the current owners, the Glazer family, are hoping to find an investment route that will enable them to remain owners.

Following the third round of bids, the Raine Group, the merchant bank handling the sales process on behalf of the Glazers, is expected to name a preferred bidder with whom they will enter a period of exclusivity once the third round of bidding ends.

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is also expected to submit a new bid, as are several companies who will look to only acquire a minority share in the club, thereby enabling the Glazer family to remain majority owners. They include Elliott Management, Ares Management Corporation, Sixth Street, and Carlyle.
