In a surprising turn of events, the Utah Jazz might become one of the teams looking for a new head coach for the 2022-23 NBA season. According to multiple reports, Jazz’s current head coach Quin Snyder is unsure about his future and could decide to leave the organization this summer.

The Jazz ended their season with a first-round playoff exit, they’re third in the past four years. But despite this, the franchise would reportedly like to keep Snyder moving forward and has even offered him a contract extension. The 55-year-old player has one year left on his deal that also includes a 2023-24 option.

Snyder met with Utah’s brass several times to discuss the future. The talks between the two sides were focused on the way the team could improve and changes that need to be made in order to transform Jazz into a championship contender. More meetings are expected to take place in the coming weeks.

Even if Snyder opts to leave the Jazz, he isn’t interested in pursuing another job right away. His preference would be to sit out the 2022-23 campaign before weighing his options next year.

Quin Snyder was named the head coach of the Utah Jazz in 2014. After two seasons of missing the playoffs, Snyder made the postseason with Jazz in each of the following six years. However, Utah never progressed past the second round during his tenure.
