The Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs expressed on Friday his intention to play in Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. This comes after the player injured his right pinkie finger last week and wore a brace as a result.

Jacobs injured his finger during the Raiders’ 16-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams last Friday when he extended his right hand to land on the turf. “My finger went out and my hand went the other way,” Jacobs explained.

According to Jacobs, his plan going forward is to place the finger in a cast and wrap it up before simply seeing how he fares with the injury while playing. The player stated that he has been catching passes in practice from quarterback Derek Carr in order to prepare to return to the field.

Officially listed as questionable, Jacobs was limited in practice all week and wore a red noncontact jersey during Wednesday’s and Thursday’s sessions. Raiders coach Josh McDaniels affirmed that Jacobs’ minutes against the Patriots would be managed should the need arise.

In addition to his finger injury, Jacobs is still nursing a sore right quad and recently recovered from a strained left calf.
